Umlauts for Education

So how would you like to be 18-34 and unemployed in America? Alan Greenspan comes out and says (I'm paraphrashing here) the education system has failed young people so badly that nobody wants to hire them, and that employers looking for quality employees should look to India and Mexico, where people work harder and have better skills.

Wow. The solution to our prosperity in America is harder working foreign workers? Companies in the US are sitting on 1.4 trillion in cash at essentially zero return. Why? They can't find workers that can work, and the tax environment in the US makes sending the jobs overseas the best decision.

And who can blame them?

What an indictment of the entire public school system and the public sector teacher unions that have made our country dumber by almost every measure. In some public school divisions, kids today have a better chance at going to prison than they do of graduating high school. Nice work guys.

When I went to school - the worst grade was (duh!) an F. An F meant a total failure to grasp the subject and move forward. There was no mark for actually getting dumber. So in light of the momentous achievement by the public sector teacher unions, I'm inventing a new grade that reflects this new reality.

Public sector teacher unions get an Umlaut for their efforts.

Please report to the principal's office.
