Well - the truth is there is no connection. I'm new to this online journo stuff, but I am getting it figured out. It's kind like plastic surgery - flashy title attracts the readers, sexy intro gets them to linger, but the inside of the twinkie can be somewhat off-white!
Anyways - wanted to comment on local news reporting. Has anybody noticed the desperation of the local major networks 6 oclock newscasts recently? Forced to compete with a 24 hour news cycle and access to international stories at the drop of a hat - the local news either has to sex up the banal local stories or pretend that they matter by offering "opinions" on national issues.
Honest to god - last night my local news was interrupted by a "BREAKING NEWS FLASH" - and a cut away to a helicopter shot of a story about 3 people that were rescued while swimming in a lake. No fatalities, no injuries and the shot was of the lifeguards packing up their floaties. In fact, the victims were waving at the helicopter. Last week it was a horse trailer that lost a wheel on the highway. No horses in it though, no major trafiic delays, just an old guy trying to change a wheel on the I-10.
Even the weather isn't immune to these fools - and I quote "will a dangerous wall of monsoon storms hit the valley tonight" as the teaser. Upon return, they said "no, probably not".
The truth finally comes out.....
